Hiking the Fish Lake Loop: A Hidden Gem in Whitehorse
FISH LAKE LOOP
Embarking on our first hike in Whitehorse, we were greeted by the serene beauty of the Fish Lake Loop—a trail that offers breathtaking alpine views and a sense of tranquility away from the city's hustle. Nestled in the Yukon wilderness, this loop trail is a perfect mix of adventure and accessible terrain for hikers looking to explore the region’s natural beauty.

Navigating the roads to the Fish Lake Loop trailhead was an adventure in itself. Minimal signage and a small parking area made the approach feel like a true escape into nature. Once on the trail, the hike winds through lush forests, gentle streams, and moss-covered rocks, gradually ascending toward alpine meadows.
Reaching the summit rewards hikers with panoramic views: towering mountains encircle a pristine lake, creating a postcard-perfect alpine landscape. Whether it’s the reflective waters of Fish Lake or the rugged peaks in the distance, every turn offers a new perspective worth photographing.

While we didn’t encounter wildlife on this particular hike, the anticipation of spotting moose or other local fauna kept our senses alert. Birdsong and rustling leaves added a soundtrack to the journey, making each step feel alive with nature.
